Quick Quotes~”True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less.” – C.S. Lewis

“True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less,”

C.S. Lewis

Humility and humbleness: these two can be so easily misinterpreted. So many of us think that to be humble is to push ourselves down and beat ourselves up. This is so wrong though. We are meant to feel beautiful and loved because we are made by a beautiful and loving Creator! The C.S. Lewis quote, “True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less,” speaks truth about how we should view humility. Humility is not thinking that you’re worthless, but it is not constantly pondering your worth and finding your worth within yourself. To have true humility is to believe that your worth and goodness comes from God. Let this help your think of others more than yourself, but also help you remember that you are so very loved and valued.

Have a great day!

Strawberry Kale Salad

Hey there! Welcome to Little Things and Sunshine:)

Here at my home in Georgia, strawberries have been at such a great price and quality. When I looked in my fridge and saw them, I knew that they’d be a perfect way to jazz up a basic kale salad. So let me tell you how I made my Strawberry Kale Salad in three simple steps.

  1. I used a base of kale leaves which were just chopped up with kitchen scissors into small pieces.
  2. Next I dressed and tossed my greens in a basic balsamic dressing made with balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and a touch of salt and pepper. (Your greens can be kept in the fridge for about 4 days with the dressing on. The salad actually gets better after it has sat for a few days.)
  3. Lastly I topped my salad with my favorite Trader Joe’s seed mix, walnut halves and pieces, and fresh strawberries.

After you have completed these 3 simple steps, all that’s left to do is dig in and enjoy. This salad really made me feel full and energized. It’s also really great pared with your favorite kombucha.

Have a fabulous day and don’t forget to take time for your health!

Quick Quotes ~ “The road to success is always under construction.”- Lily Tomlin

“The road to success is always under construction.” – Lily Tomlin

. Have you ever felt like you’re making no progress on your goals or that you’re just failing at everything? Well I have. This is just one of those quotes that really lift my spirit and remind me to keep going.

No one is perfect, nothing is easy, and life is just plain ol’ tuff, but we have to remember that success isn’t instant. Your dreams don’t come flying towards you on a silver platter. The road to success is hard, but it’s also very rewarding. The road to success is also never ending. You’ll never truly be content with what you’ve accomplished in life because your accomplishments and dreams can’t fulfill you.

Just remember, when you’re sitting in that cubicle wishing you were in the Bahamas, that you will get there someday. “The road to success is always under construction,” but that’s one of the things that brings excitement to life. Don’t expect things to be perfect and don’t try to make things happen according to your plan. Sometimes a bridge is going to break and you’ll have to start over, but use that setback to build something even better. Never stop improving. Never stop learning.

I hope you enjoying this weeks Quick Quotes! I challenge you to take those words to heart and apply them to your life.

Have a great day;)

6 Ways to Unwind

The weekend is almost here! I know you’ve probably been running around like a crazy person, trying to get things done all week. Life can be a bit stressful sometimes. It’s soooo easy to work, work, work…. and work some more without taking some time to unwind. Being constantly busy can bring a lot of stress to your mind and body, so I thought I’d share a few ways that I like to unwind.

1. Pamper my face.

When I’m stressed and tired, my skin really feels it. I really enjoy giving myself a mini facial with a face mask such as this Calming Green Tea Oat mask or taking a few extra minutes to wash my face really well.

2.Scroll Through Pinterest.

Ahhhh Pinterest. I must say it can become a bit of an obsession, but I like to just surf through my feed sometimes or look at words of wisdom, clothes, and of course food;) Looking at funny stuff or home decor always lifts my mood and inspires me.

3. Workout.

I know you’re probably trying to figure out why this is on an unwinding tips post, but just trust me. Working out means something different for everyone. I’m a dancer so I love to do an at home dance workout or stretch session. Yoga is also a favorite of mine. Just getting your body moving and maybe a little sweaty is a great way to release some stress and get in shape while doing so.

4. Tea And A Book.

Let’s face it. We don’t read books enough anymore and it’s such a shame. Books are a great way to relax and calm your mind. Next time you come home stressed and tired, reach over to that dusty book shelf, make a simple chai tea latte, and dive into the world of literature.

5. Read A Devotion.

This is defiantly a must at all times whether you’re stressed or not. Resting in God’s presence is just the most amazing thing ever.  There’s a great website and app called She Reads Truth that I have been absolutely loving. They have tons devotion series that are all fantastic. Having an organized plan makes it so easy to just grab your phone, read a devotion, and unwind.

6. Have A Chill Playlist.

Music defiantly has the ability to control your mood. I like to have a playlist with my favorite chill music for when I need to unwind or sleep. This reallyyyyyyy helps me and its something you can do while in the car on a long trip or simply coming home.

I hope these help you to relax!

Have a great weekend:)

Quick Quotes~ “Be an encourager. The world has plenty of critics already.”- Dave Willis

“Be an encourager. The world has plenty of critics already.”- David Willis

Hey there! Welcome to Quick Quotes at the Little Things and Sunshine blog:)

Today’s quote is about criticism. Society is full of criticism. It’s literally everywhere! You face it at work, at school,… and the list goes on. This David Willis quote, “Be an encourager. The world has plenty of critics already,” is something that we all should take into account. So what does being an encourager mean? Being an encourager can mean being supportive of other’s dreams and goals or just having something positive and truthful to say. I challenge you to be a positive influence in the lives of others and to be encouraging, because the world is full of so many critics.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Dare to be encouraging;)

Simple Chai Tea Latte

Welcome to Little Things and Sunshine! I’ve really been into chai tea lately so I thought I’d share how you can prepare a super simple latte in as little as 5-6 minutes. This is what I have been drinking in the mornings and the rich flavor really helps to start my day right. Plus it’s superrrrrrrrr easy so without further ado let’s get started!

To start, I put 1/2 a teaspoon of sugar in the bottom of my cup. You can customize this to how much or how little sweetness as you prefer, but I like mine with very little sugar.

This Tazo Chai Organic is my fav chai tea at the moment:)

Fill your cup with boiling water and 1 teaspoon of half and half (I’ve been enjoying the Natural Bliss creamer in the Sweet Cream flavor) and let steep for about 5 minutes. I know that seems like a long time but it’s totally worth it.

And you’re done!  Now all that’s left to do is put on some pjs, grab your favorite book, and enjoy! I hope you all enjoy this recipe and have a blessed day.

Talk to you later:)
